John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Jesus talks about the Father’s words being truth but He also tells us that He is truth. The scripture is also clear that Jesus is the Word of God. Jesus boldly proclaimed that He is “Truth”.

Sanctify means to “set aside”. Jesus said that He is not of the world nor are those who follow Him of this world. We have been “set aside” and prepared for the day when the Lord will return.

It is truth that sets us apart from the world. Man reasons by sight and experience therefore his reasoning is flawed because it is limited in understanding. . We do not have the ability to see the whole picture, therefore we make bold assumptions and predictions that miss the mark.

God can see the whole realm of history and His reasoning is flawless because He is able to see and understand all things. Therefore every action He has made and every Word He has spoken is absolute truth. That truth sanctifies us and becomes understanding through the faith placed in Him.

Jesus suffered for our sins. He was nailed to a cross and dies in our place. He willingly laid down His life but also had the power to raise it up again. He is the Word of God and He is Truth! We have put Him on and He has sanctified us.
